The Missing Link v1.0
Top Notch - 1993
PD Release notes
This disk contains the Missing Link installer (see
"INSTALL.DOC" for deatails) and some example programs of games and
demos - some complete, some not - which we have written using the
extension.
The disk was specifically put together for release to PD
libraries and anyone else who deserves more than the "coverdisk"
version which contains just the installer. The programs on the disk
are (excluding the installer):
FRANK AND THE LOST AUBERGINE
----------------------------
This is a multi-directionally scrolling platform game with a
host of features including timed-explosives, massive maps,
several types of baddies and much more. (Level 3.1 is
currupt, press SPACE to skip it once it has loaded).
VIOLENT DEATH
-------------
This is an excellent horizontal shoot-em-up featuring a two-
player on-screen option, incredibly smooth and fast horizontal
scrolling and frantic gameplay!
BALLS
-----
A mixture if Asteroids and Pang! This simple game demonstrates
the versatility of several of the Missing Links commands,
including 'digi play', 'tile' and 'bob'.
BEN IN PARADISE
---------------
This game was written to demonstrate how to do a 'Gauntlet'
type game using the 'world' command.
CAR
---
This a demo of the first level of another forthcoming game
which shows off the speed of the vertically scrolling map
command. The music in this game was written by Stefan Lingdell
CARNAGE
-------
This furious, fast-action shoot-em-along was inspired by clasic
games like Defender, Uridium and Nemesis. Ship and Alien
graphics are by Staale Loseth.
DAMAGE PATROL
-------------
Inspired by Wings of Death 1&2, this fun little game shows
off most of the most common features of a shoot-em-up, like
scrolling, aliens, power-ups and interaction with the
landscape.
DEATH INCARNATE
---------------
Based on the first level of a very old arcade game called
'Astro-Blaster', this fast shoot-em-up was completed in
under 2 hours.
DISK
----
This is just a very simple example of the 'bob' command.
OVERHEAD
--------
A mock-up of a real, soon to be released, game based around
old classics like Time-traveller and X-Out.
PANG
----
Based on the arcade favourite pang, this program demonstrates
on way of going about copying it.
PLEASE NOTE!
-----------
When you register for the Missing Link, you will receive as
part of the registration package, the source codes to all of the
programs on this disk with the exception of Violent Death and Frank.
The programs on the disk are all packed with SpeedPacker
version 3 (written by The Firehawks). In order to run the programs
you must have run the program in the AUTO folder of this disk. The
program can also be run from the GEM desktop. I am given to
understand that Speed3 has some problems with NeoDesk, so I'd advise
you to use these programs outside of NeoDesk.
